10/11/12, Thursday
So I meant to write this last night, but I forgot. It's a process. Anyway, yesterday I:
* met with Tracy to get going on the image pretest
* tried to work on the multiracial manuscript, but was interrupted soon after by the arrival of my sushi
* met with Dr. Kazemi to get advice on starting a new master's program (see revised goals below)
* did stuff for my class (a lecture, an assignment)
* logged 3 hours of consulting work
To clarify, these last two things don't "count" - I have to do them, so even if I'm productive on teaching/consulting, it doesn't move me toward my MoM goals. I'll have days when that's most of what I do, but I want them to be the minority.
I also thought of new goals, so here's the revised list:
1)
initiate at least four studies, including: the regulatory focus study (with
Josh/Mollie), the pain study (with Alina), the image pretest (with Tracy), and
Cyberball (with Erica). There'll be more, too.
2) finish work on three or more manuscripts (stress and national security; fraternity stereotyping revision, multiracial identity, and - data pending - drinks).
3) with Nathan, run the Reproducibility Project study.
4) work with Matt, Josh, Max,
Johnny, Travis, Brendon, Quenton, and others to finalize their application
lists, work on statements of purpose, and otherwise prepare for grad school
apps.
5) Support/encourage students (at minimum Nathan and Erica, but also
Quenton, Max, and on and on) to run, initiate, and/or analyze studies of their
own.
6) update the webpage with research interests as well as personnel updates.
7) Get everyone who wants to go to SPSP on a study that
will enable them to go to New Orleans (preconference).
8) Get everyone who
doesn't get to SPSP onto a WPA poster, and help them get to Reno.
9) write a proposal for a new master's program (MMR - master's in marketing research); meet with deans to get this process under way
10) exercise reasonably, eat well, and
SLEEP.
