11/12, Monday (evening)

Good day today, this second-to-last day of mayhem.

I did some writing on Daniel Corral's thesis manuscript, wrote two letter of rec. I also graded an exam, edited a lecture, and did lots of consulting. And cooked a sick dinner (4 small plates: green curry fish cake with tamarind sauce, arugula/avocado/tomato salad with honey garlic lime dressing, butternut squash with sage brown butter, quinoa with olives/sundried tomato/blood orange olive oil). So there.

11/11 (Sunday evening)

A good weekend: writing on the advil paper, organized my letters of recommendation, reviewed Amber's thesis, and gave Matt feedback on his SOP.

11/1, Thursday

Well, I worked on my advil revision this morning. What else...met with Matt about his applications, did a bunch of semi-research-related errands, and then managed to SAVE OVER MY LECTURE that I had written yesterday, thus erasing an evening's worth of work.

10/31, Wednesday

Worked very hard today, but mostly on teaching. Wrote a lecture, graded some research project ideas, wrote an exam. I did manage to review Erica’s preliminary data (which, spoiler alert, is in that puzzling zone where a little something MIGHT be happening). Traded a few emails about manuscripts. Got a review back also: they want another major revision of advil. Ugh. At least it's not a reject, but I don't have the stomach for much more of this!

10/30, Tuesday

Didn't manage to write today, but: had lab meeting, met with Brendon and Matt about grad school stuff; talked with Tracy about the photo pretest; met with like 3 people applying to MSW programs (I need to stop writing letters for that program!); met with Carrie to talk about department policies, funding, keys, programmers, brand studies...all manner of things.

10/29, Monday (evening)

All I really did today is shake off the writing hangover, but I did that successfully: managed to log a block off writing on the (painful) manuscript. I also sketched out, in broad strokes, a new study that I hope to run sometime very soon (should be an exempt IRB), but we'll see. And I know this doesn't count, but I graded 21 research project ideas and wrote a lecture and did a lot of consulting stuff.
10/29, Monday (weekend update)

An unexpected course of events. I wrote on the manuscript Friday morning, but spent the entire weekend (literally the entire weekend) writing an invited article for Zocalo Public Square. Hardest thing ever, and it's not great, but neither is it terrible. And it sort of counts as a publication. So there. Back to reality today.
